MINNETONKA, MN, March 24, 2010 /Industrial PR News/ -- A typical connector inspection application would generally require the vision system to inspect the following: pin or contact presence/absence; pin length, width and pitch; contact gap; and implied coplanarity by measuring the distance from a pin or contact to a fixed datum. Developing a solution to fulfill these requirements can be very time consuming, particularly when several variables must be considered during the design stage. Variables such as number of pins/contact, size and color of housing, and resolution requirement that varies from one part type to the other often result in vision integrators spending tremendous amount of time creating different versions of the very same solution.
A multi-snap universal connector pin/gap inspection program is created to conquer this challenge. PPT VISION's IMPACT software offers the power and flexibility to deliver a solution where users have the options to select right from the control panel which inspections they want to perform, how many snaps are needed and how many pins/gap per snap. The solution is designed such that each snap has its own origin so the pin pattern can be different from one snap to the other.
