Gottfried "Godi" Fischer, Ph.D. Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Electrical and Computer Engineering Education

Dr. Fischer, the holder of two U.S. patents, has actively consulted for and collaborated with industrial partners and government labs.

/Industrial PR News/ - Wakefield, RI, February 26, 2008, Gottfried "Godi" Fischer, Ph.D. has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for contributions in teaching and research advancements in the field of electrical and computer engineering. As a professor at the University of Rhode Island, Dr. Fischer has honed his expertise in mixed-signal integrated circuit design, low-power CMOS circuits, analog and digital filters, data converters, and phase-locked loops.

Dr. Fischer began his career conducting research on the design and the implementation of analog sampled-data filters. These types of filters, also known as switched-capacitor filters, enable solutions for many problems in the field of audio and video signal processing. He then spent the following two decades mastering amplifiers and comparators, data converters, phase-locked loops, digital frequency synthesizers, analog and digital filters, low power CMOS circuits and mixed signal design.

Dr. Fischer is the director of the graduate program in electrical, computer and biomedical enginnering. Aside from his educational duties, Dr. Fischer has been published in the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Devices, the IEEE Transaction on Circuits and Systems, and the IEE Electronics Letters. Additionally, he has contributed to the Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and authored a chapter on analog-to-digital converter applications in Multirate Systems- Design and Applications (Idea Group Publ. Hershey, PA 2001).

Utilizing his expertise in mixed-signal integrated circuit design, Dr. Fischer has actively consulted for and collaborated with industrial partners and government labs, aiding them in their research of underwater acoustics. During his 20-year career as an educator, he has taught almost a dozen varying college courses at both an undergraduate and graduate level.

Fischer, the holder of two U.S. patents, received his Doctor of Science Degree, his Ph.D. and his master's degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and IEEE Communications Society. Fischer received two faculty excellence awards from the University of Rhode Island.
